Team CU bags 23 medals in all to lift the 2nd runner-up trophy
Team Chandigarh University has lifted overall 2nd runner-up trophy both in Men & Women category during All India Inter-University Kick Boxing Championship 2017-18. More than 47 teams from universities all over India participated during AIU Championship which was hosted by Punjabi University, Patiala. Players from Chandigarh University won in total 23 medals which included 5 Silver & 5 Bronze in Men category while the team won 6 silver & 7 bronze medals in the women category.
The players from Chandigarh University who won medals include (Men):- Rinku won silver medal in FC below 57 kg category while Yuvraj won silver in KL below 57 kg category event. Rahul Bahadur won silver in KL below 63 kg while Harshit Pareta won silver in Lk below 57 kg & Vipin won silver in LK below 91 kg category. The bronze medals in men were won by Tsering Wagnyal in PF below 69 kg, Anubhav Dikshit in PF below 63 kg, Jaswinder Singh in LK below 81 kg, Harmandeep Singh in FC below 91 kg and Vikas Kumar Netam in PF above 84 kg category of the tournament.
The players from Chandigarh University who won medals include (Women):- Harjinder Kaur won silver in PF below 55 kg while Rajvinder Kaur won silver in KL below 50 kg category. Varsha Belwal won silver in KL below 55 kg while Raksha Goswami won silver in below 48 kg category. Priyanka Rani won silver in FC below 56 kg while Jyoti won silver in FC above 70 kg. The bronze medals in women category were won by Rakhi in KL above 70 kg, Radhika Tomar in LK below 56 kg, Jasmeet Kaur in FC below 70 kg, Simran Kaur in KL below 70 kg, Sonia Battan in PF above 70 kg, Supriya in PF below 70 kg and Riya Nehra in PF below 50 kg category of the tournament.
While congratulating the medal winners, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “It is a matter of great pride that CU team has won so many medals in its first attempt in Kick-boxing championship”.
