Students of Chandigarh University celebrated Diwali-The festival of Lights in its true and noble sense along with special children (Differently Abled Children) from Asha Kiran. Chandigarh Tourism in association with Chandigarh University had organized a special event “Deepawali Luminescence” at Capitol Complex, Chandigarh where more than 50 special children from Asha Kiran, a centre in Sector 46 for differently-abled children along with Chandigarh University students in the cultural and musical celebration of the Diwali. Capt. Karnail Singh (PCS), Director, Sports, Chandigarh Administration was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Mr. Mandeep Kumar, Section Officer, Chandigarh Tourism along with Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University was the Guest of Honor during the ceremony.
While addressing the gathering, Capt. Karnail Singh said,” The varsity students have celebrated Diwali in its true sense along with these special children as they deserve our special attention and focus so that they don’t feel neglected”. As the children of city beautiful, it is the duty of administration and every citizen to work together for the betterment of these children as the affection given to them could raise their morale which could bring out the best results from them, he added added. “UT administration is committed to work for every section of the society and theses children are our privilege citizens of Chandigarh”.
Dr. R.S.Bawa said, “It becomes our moral responsibility to take everyone along with us during the time of celebrations and we have used Diwali which is considered to be the most prominent festival of India as a platform to spread the noble thought of taking these special children along with the society so that they are not left behind”.
