Legendary Punjabi Singer Gurdas Maan honored with “PRIDE OF PUNJAB-2017” award during CU Fest 2017
Musical & Cultural extravaganza marks the 1st Day of Chandigarh University Fest “CU FEST 2017”
Display of talent, vibrant Indian culture and fusion of Indo-Western performances made “CU Fest 2017” at Chandigarh University Gharuan, which began on colorful note with Dr. Christopher Gibbins, Counsel General, Canada inaugurating the 2-day National event at University campus. Noted Punjabi Singer & Actor, Gurdas Maan was honored with PRIDE-OF-PUNJAB 2017 award during the glittering inaugural ceremony today for his contribution towards promoting Punjabi Language and Culture popular at international level that lead to making of Punjabi community proud of his achievements. Woven around the theme “Safety for Women” the students of Chandigarh University took the oath to provide a safe and fear free environment for the women.
With more than 250 teams of prominent institutions like Punjab University, Thapar University, Punjabi University, GNDU, PAU, PTU, Delhi University and 50 Polytechnic Colleges participating in more than 20 categories of Theatre, Literary, Non-Technical and Cultural competitions, the National Level event turned out to be truly talent hunting ground on the inaugural day.
“India and Canada share a lot of things which includes that both the countries boost of being multi-culturalism and being secular in nature, the constitution of the both nation respects citizens irrespective of religion” said Dr. Christopher Gibbins, Counsel General. The contribution of Punjabi community towards development of Canada cannot be undermined and we acknowledge that the Punjabi Youth are hardworking and can make anything possible, added Canadian Consulate General.
While receiving the Pride of Punjab award, Gurdas Maan said that “Every award that I receive provides me an instant energy booster that encourages me to do better & different work”. Referring to the Youth Power in our country, Gurdas Maan added that “Youth of our Nation needs to understand the real strength that the young generation carries which can take India in becoming one of the greatest nation in the world”. Enlightened with PRIDE OF PUNJAB award conferred to him by Chandigarh University Maan added that “He is honored that his work get noticed and recognized and he is a proud Punjabi as Punjab is Pride of India.
DJ Tripti spell-bounded audience with her peppy numbers who encouraged the students to create a conducive environment for the women. Legandary Punjabi Singer, Gurdas Maan created a magical spell with his live performance during the inaugural day of the 2-day National Fest at Chandigarh University. Mamla Gadbad hai, Challa and Ki Banu Duniya da were among some of the popular numbers that made the students to dance to his tunes on the inaugural day of the 2-day National Fest at Chandigarh University.
Satnam Singh Sandhu said that the students of the Northern India have provided an elaborate platform through CU Fest 2017 to showcase their talent and develop the zeal to compete, innovate and learn with progress. Pre-limanry rounds of Punjabi-Virsa Dhol Bhangra, Classical Vocal Music, Traditional Folk Dance, One Minute act, MIME, Mono-act, Western Group dance saw tough competitions for which final rounds will be held during the 2nd day of the National Fest.
