Chandigarh University honors Eminent Women Personalities with Women Achievers Award 2019

Two day National Symposium to mark International Women’s Day kicks off at Chandigarh University

“We have witnessed that with changing age the ambition in a women starts fading away as she gets busy in her family life and as a result she slowly & gradually gives up her professional life” said model and social activist Roli Tripathi. She was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of two-day national symposium on “Women Empowerment in India” at Chandigarh University, Gharuan campus. Eminent Women personalities from the Glamour World, Media, Film Industry and Entrepreneurship were honored on the eve of International Women Day with “Women Achievers Award 2019” on the first day of the national symposium. Those who were awarded include Model & Bollywood Actress Kashmira Shah, Model, and Punjabi Film Actress Sonam Bajwa, Model and Actress Tania Sharma, Entrepreneur Mia Lakra, Radio Jockey Meenakshi, Social Activist Roli Tripathi and Deputy News Editor of Leading English Daily, Geetu Vaid. A panel discussion of “Women Empowerment is key to India’s Future” was organized on the first day of the national symposium.

While speaking on the occasion, Sonam Bajwa said, “We should not wait for men to stand-up for cause and issues of Women, rather Women should stand for each other which will make our voice even stronger”.  There is visible change in perception about Women in society and even in film industry, the filmmakers are coming forward to make films on Women Issues giving importance to Women Centric roles, added Sonam Bajwa. “Men and Women have no competition and rather than wasting our time on the comparison of the two sexes, women should focus on self-development and growth”, said Kashmira Shah.

“As soon as a girl completes her formal education, she should start work on creating her identity in the world and come out of the shadow of parents” said Roli Tripathi. Today’s women is not afraid of taking risk, whether it is business or job and is capable to go extra milestone if that bring growth and success in her life, said Mia Lakra. “With changing times we are saying that women’s issues are extensively getting covered in media like Me too campaign, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao which have resulted into creating a conducive environment for women empowerment” added Geetu Vaid. She praised the female achievers of Chandigarh University in Sports, Entrepreneurship, Research, Academics, who have not only made their University proud but the entire female community proud of their achievements.
