Students of Chandigarh University have proved their mettle by winning the overall trophy in Literary during the 32nd Inter University North Zone Youth Festival 2017 held at Chattarpati Shahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur. Team CU bagged the overall trophy by bagging 1st position in Debate, 3rd position in Quiz, 3rd Position in Western Group Song and 3rd Position in the One Act Play competition.

Aimed to promote the spirit of Indian Theatre, Literature Art & Culture among youth, these youth festivals are organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) every year, where students from Universities all across India take part in various literary competitions. The Inter-University Youth Festivals are categorized in four zones namely North, South, East & West zone. While the North Zone comprises of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttarpardesh, J&K and Himachal Pardesh and teams from more than 31 Universities participated this year in the 32nd Inter University North India edition of Youth Festival.

Team of students comprising of Shivam Sharma, Manila, Akshay Rawat, Sameer Tak, Rubby, Sunny, Mansi, Prayas Dubbey and Ankit Pareekh won 3rd position in the One Act Play Competition. The students presented the play “King of Tragedy-Sir Charlie Chapplin” which showcased the real-life events of World famous Comedian Charlie Chapplin who made the world burst into laughter hiding behind the tragedies of his life. Jamia Milia University, New Delhi and Ch. Ranbir Singh University, Jind won the 1st and 2nd position respectively in the one act play event.

In dance category of events, team Chandigarh University comprising of Mani Karnika, Jessica Karla, Priyam Pahi, Gagandeep Brar, Mahima and Shanu Sharma won 3rd position in the Western Group Song competition.  The students of Chandigarh University swept the literary competitions which included 1st position won by Seraj Ali and Parul Mishra in the Debate event while team comprising of Kavish, Jatin and Tarandeep Sing won 3rd position in the Quiz Competition. The winning teams have qualified participate in the National Level AIU, Youth Festival to be held from 12th February-14th February at Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Dr. J. V. Vaishampayan Vice-Chancellor, CSJM University, Kanpur, gave trophies to the winners.
