India’s 1st Hyundai Professional Development Center inaugurated at Chandigarh Polytechnic College Gharuan
Hyundai Motors aims to contribute under Government’s Skill India initiative: Sr. Vice-President
Understanding its Corporate Social Responsibility and in a bid to contribute towards Skill India initiative, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), India’s largest exporter and second largest car manufacturer have inaugurated India’s 1st Hyundai Professional Development Centre at Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Gharuan on the campus of Chandigarh University. Team of company officials lead by Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Sr. Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, HMIL and Mr. Punnaivanam S, Assistant Vice-President, Unit Head Customer Care Service launched the specialized Hyundai Certification Program for the Automobile Diploma Engineering Students of Chandigarh Polytechnic College, Gharuan. Mr. Himanshu Singhal, AGM & Head of the Training Department and Mr. Anurag Kumar, AGM, Field Support India along with Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University and Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University were also present during the inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Srivastava said, “Hyundai Motors has taken initiative in fulfilling its commitment and support by establishment of Hyundai Professional Development Centre that will expose the students of Automobile Engineering to the modern technologies thereby increasing the employment opportunities and enhancing their career prospects”. Under the Hyundai Training Initiative, the company is already training students at 21 ITIs across India and aims to earmark at-least one ITI by 2017 as nodal training center in every state where students will undergo practical training on latest technology developed and used by Indian Automobile Industry, Mr. Rakesh added.
While highlighting the features of Hyundai Centre, “We have selected 5 Polytechnic Colleges pan-India under the new initiative being undertaken by Hyundai Motors and the newly established Hyundai Professional Development Center at CPC-Gharuan is first of its kind training facility which we have inaugurated today that will host Advanced Automobile Engineering Training Laboratory set-up by the company where 45 Diploma Engineering students would be trained every year and would be offered employment after the completion of training across the Hyundai dealership chain in India”.
While addressing the students, Satnam Singh Sandhu said, “The initiative undertaken by Hyundai Motors will go a long way in creating a pool of engineers who will possess skills which Indian and Global Automobile Industry is looking for and with active participation from Industry, the skill gap between Industry and Academia can be easily bridged”.
