Chandigarh University hosts 2nd Annual Media Fest 2018
400 students from more than 30 educational institutes from all over the country participated in the second edition of Chandigarh University Media Fest 2018 which was inaugurated by the chief guest Sumaira khan, an eminent media professional from one of the leading national media house. “Even though the dependence and usage of social media platforms is increasing but people still come back to the traditional sources of media like newspapers and TV channels to verify and authenticate the news.There is a system of checks and balances before the news is delivered to the public which makes the news credible.” said the news anchor Sumaira Khan.
The students of journalism and mass communication gathered from all around India were present at the event and while sharing her experience she said, “As the technology is changing there is a change in the people’s preference too which has changed the working of media industry.So,a journalist can never be isolated, he needs to be well versed with the change in technology as well as the surroundings.” “Media field is very vast and there is so much happening in the media world right now. This is the right time when you can address your strengths and build on them as you are the future journalists” anchor of Batana to Padega added.
11 different categories namely short film, photography, storytelling, press release writing, news anchoring, ad-mad, radio jockey, debate, poster designing, caption writing and group dance were organised as a part of the event. Students form MGAHV Wardha, Amity University Madhya Pradesh, Panjab University, IIMC New Delhi, INIFD, Guru Jambheshwar University Hisar, Punjabi University and many more were the part of the fest. Keeping in mind the creativity, effort and enthusiasm of the of participants Punjabi University won the overall trophy at the event by winning in 7 categories. The list of winners for the other events is as follows; SGGS Chandigarh in ad mad show, City Group of Colleges Jalandhar in photography, DAV University Jalandhar in RJ Hunt, UIS-CU in Debate and CT Jalandhar in Documentary Making.
