Supriya Sah a student of Chandigarh University Gharuan has won silver medal in Women’s category of Taolu (Daoshu Event) during 1st All India Inter University Wushu Championship 2016-17 held at the campus of Punjabi University Patiala. Supriya continued her unbeaten spree to reach the finals of the Taolu event of the Wushu Championship and went down fighting Purvi Soni of Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur. Purvi Soni won Gold Medal on the basis of accumulated score of 7.10 while Supriya Sah, Chandigarh University bagged Silver Medal with an overall championship score of 6.70. Gita from Punjabi University won the bronze medal with a score of 6.30. Teams from more than 45 Universities participated during the 1st All India Inter University Championship 2016.
Supriya Sah is a National level Sub-Junior Wushu Champion who has represented the state of Bihar and won 4 Gold Medals, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze during the National Sub-Junior Wushu Championship organized in various states during 2007-16. “It was 2006 when I started this game and in 2007 I won 2 Gold Medals during the 6th & 7th Sub-Junior National Wushu Championship held at Bihar & Himchal Pardesh” said Supriya Sah.
She further added that, “I wish to represent my country in Olympics if the sport is included in the Olympics 2020 games to be held at Tokyo”. Wushu is among the eight sports which has been accepted by the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee to be included during 2020 Games.
