Chef team of University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (UITHM), Chandigarh University has won the 8th North India Patisserie Competition organized by CIHM, Chandigarh. Team CU comprised of 2nd semester students, Manish Tyagi and Aman Jha who won 1st position in the Petit Four (One byte dessert) category of the event. Student teams from more than 15 Hotel Management Institutions in North India which included Punjab University, GNA University, IHM Gurdaspur, IHM Kurukshetra, IHM Hamirpur, IHM Merrut, Delhi Institute of Hotel Management and others participated in the 2-day event.

Team of Manish and Aman prepared International dessert cuisines which included Mini Pavalova, a desert from New Zealand, Orange Tart an orange flavored curd on chocolate from France, Pina Colada Egg which is a cocktail made from fusion of Coconut & Pineapple and Chocolate Saturn which is a paan flavored chocolate based dessert. After winning the competition, Manish said “This is for the first time, I have participated in any cooking competition and the experience which we as a student have gained is tremendous as we prepared our cuisines in front of expert chefs from industry who have vast experience”

 While congratulating the winning team, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “Students should participate in such competitions during their academic tenure as it helps them in meeting the fellow students from other institutions or universities and exchange their ideas”
