MoU to offer mutual corporation in Research & Academics in the field of Media Studies, Health Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Business Management
“Universities in India & Australia share a common ideology to prepare the next generation workforce for Industry, so it is important to share common platform where universities of both the countries can co-relate their efforts & share their resources” said Prof. Deep Saini, Vice-Chancellor, University of Canberra, Australia. Prof. Deep Saini, Vice-Chancellor, University of Canberra signed a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU) with Chandigarh University in the presence of the delegation from University of Canberra, Australia which included Prof. Nick Klomp, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Mr. Rongyui Li, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Partnerships), Satnam Singh, Chancellor, Chandigarh University and Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University.
While addressing the students, Prof. Deep said, “The signed MoU would have multi-dimensional role as it would open new avenues such as Student Exchange Programs, Joint Research Initiatives, Dual Degree Programs, Semester Aboard for the students from both the universities”. To begin with, both the universities have agreed to form a Joint Research Working Group that would look into areas of mutual corporation which includes Media Studies, Bio-Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Health Sciences and Business Management. “During the last decade, Australia has been successful in offering a conducive learning environment, affordable education, lucrative career opportunities, safe & secure lifestyle which has resulted in emerging as the most preferred destination for higher education amongst the Indian Students” Prof. Saini added. He further said that, “Due to several steps initiatives taken by Australian Government in terms of liberalizing the visa policy, there has been a 14% jump in number of Indian students coming to Australia for their higher education over the last 2 years.
Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “It’s a matter of great pride for us that University of Canberra which ranks amongst the top 100 Emerging Universities of World has joined hands with us”. The students of both the universities would stand benefit from the MoU which exclusively focuses on the career development of their respective student, he added.
