Chandigarh University Gharuan has been ranked first amongst the Universities in the Clean & Smart Campus Rankings 2019 of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), Government of India. Dr.B.S.Sohi, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University received the honor from Ramesh Polhriyal Nishank, Union Minister for Human Resource Development during 3rd Swachhta Ranking Awards held at New Delhi.

Ministry of Human Resource & Development (MHRD) conducts the survey of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) under “Clean & Smart Campus Rankings” every year on the basis of Cleanliness & Hygiene, Kitchen Hygiene in University Mess, Green Cover in Campus, Garbage Disposal in Hostels & Campus, Water Supply & Sewerage System. While the Smart Campus parameters which includes the usage of e-governance, IT, ICT and ITES in the academics & administration of the University Campus.  

After receiving the award, Dr. Sohi said, “We are working to achieve the vision of our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for a clean and smart nation”. University is running several campaigns at its campus under the Swachh Bharat Mission and has recently banned the usage of Single-Use Plastic on its campus, added Pro-Vice-Chancellor
