CU player Ankur Saini wins bronze medal for India at Seocheon International Taekwondo Championship

Indian players won 2 Silver 2 Bronze medals during the tournament

Ankur Singh Saini a 2nd year BA student of Chandigarh University Gharuan has brought laurels for India by wining bronze medal at Seocheon International Taekwondo Championship Daejeon MDC Cup in South Korea. Indian team won in total 2 silver and 2 bronze medals during the International Taekwondo Championship in various categories. Teams from 35 countries participated in the tournament which concluded in Seocheon city of South Korea.  Ankur Saini won bronze for India in the 58 kg Senior Flyweight category of the tournament.

While giving details about the tournament, Ankur Saini said, “Indian players Rehan & Manoj won silver medals in the 48 kg Flyweight and +60 kg categories while Shreya won the other bronze medal in the 48 kg girls flyweight category of the tournament”. Ankur beat Shing-Liu (7-5) from the host country South Korea during the league match while he knocked out Oein-Feng-Shu from Japan (5-3) in his pre-quarter final match. In the quarter final match, Ankur Saini beat Sui Lui Lui (6-3) from China to make his berth in the semi-finals of the tournament. But Ankur Saini went down fighting Dominick Sowien (4-6) from Malaysia and won Bronze medal.

Ankur Saini had won silver medal in 55 kg category for India during the Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship in Canada in 2017.
