Daniel and Ragini bags Best Industrial Designer and Best Painter Award
Two day International Design and Creative Meet concludes at Chandigarh University
“Design reflects the creative inner thoughts and with the advent of new technology in designing young professionals have more options to their disposal” said Prof. (Dr.) Albert Macaya, University Rovira I Virgili, Spain. He was speaking during the valedictory ceremony of International Design and Creative Meet at Chandigarh University. Design Experts from Spain, Italy, India, Netherland and Australia took part during the 2 day Design and Creative Meet during which Workshop on Painting, Sketching, Computer Designing and Sculpturing was arranged for the students of Industrial Design, Fine Design and Fashion Design.
“Although computer based designing has taken over yet canvass offers more creativity for an artist and as a student of designing one should focus on developing skills in making new innovative designs through hands” added Dr. Albert Macaya. While briefing the students about the scope of designing as a career, Jaspreet Singh, an Industry Designer in the field of Automobile, said, “Automobile Designing offers lucrative career options as global auto brands are getting their vehicles designed as per the taste of Indian Market especially youth as a result young designing professionals are in-demand in the Industry”. Coming directly from industry and providing logistics and design related services to design schools, design studios and Asian design industry, Prof. (Dr.) Thomas Mical, University of South Australia and Prof. Prabhdip Brar, Fashion Designing Expert from Punjab University, Chandigarh were among the prominent speakers who participated during the International Design and Creative Meet.
Exhibition and Model Display was organized in which sculptures, paintings, sketches and industrial design models prepared by the students of Department of Design. 2nd year student of B. Design, Daniel won the Best Designing Competition while first year student Ragini Aazad won the Best Painting Competition. Vikas Deham a second year fine arts student won the Best Sculpture Award.
