Radio Punjab has made a remarkable name in short span, its efforts for community welfare commendable: CU Chancellor S. CU UCRD’s bio-insecticide to revolutionise India’s fruit production

Chandigarh University faculty develops a bio-insecticide spray to protect fruits from harmful insects and flies There is no doubt that horticulture is considered a good option as compared to food crops, but the infestation of insects and bees on fruits has affected horticulture badly. Fruits like guava and mango are cultivated in various states of India including Punjab. Guava is cultivated in an area of 8,000 hectares in Punjab alone, but the horticulture sector has been severely affected by the attack of fruit bees (Bactrocera dorsalis) in the past few decades. Most guava growers face low yields during the rainy season due to infestations of fruit flies and insects. Especially during the rainy season, fruit flies cause a loss of 27 to 42 percent to the gardeners, while they have to suffer up to 80 percent of the loss during the rainy season. If we talk about Punjab, then farmers of the state have to suffer up to 70 percent loss in fruit production due to not taking proper measures. I...

For the first time in the history, 36 teams of dancers, one from each state and union territory, were selected through a nationwide competition to perform during the Republic Day parade 2022. Patriotism fills the air as Chandigarh University Commemorates 73rd Republic Day

Chandigarh University celebrated 73rd Republic Day of India on 26th January 2022 with enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. On this occasion, Vice-Chancellor Dr.N.T. Rao unfurled the National Flag of India at C.U Campus. This was accompanied by the singing of the National Anthem. After the Flag Hoisting Ceremony and Inspection of Parade, the Vice-Chancellor communicated Republic Day Greetings to everyone Cadets of Chandigarh University carried-out a march past and the cadets who had won at different National level NCC Competitions were honoured by Dr.N.T. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University .
