CU Makes History: Becomes India's First Private University to Win the MAKA Trophy

New Delhi - Chandigarh University (CU) has made a landmark achievement in the world of sports by becoming the first private university in India to win the highly prestigious Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy for sports excellence. This prestigious award, presented annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, recognizes the top-performing university in competitive sports.

CU's sporting excellence was highlighted at the KIUG 2024, where the university claimed an astounding 32 Gold Medals, 18 Silver Medals, and 21 Bronze Medals, topping the overall medal tally. This victory is a clear reflection of CU’s commitment to fostering athletic talent and its ongoing pursuit of excellence in sports.

The MAKA Trophy 2024 award ceremony will take place alongside the 2024 National Sports Awards, with the ceremony scheduled for January 17, 2025, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
