CU shines in All India Inter-University Qwan-Ki-Do Championship

Team MDU Rohtak wins overall trophy; CU came close 1st runner-up in women and 2nd runner-up in men championship


Team MDU Rohtak bagged overall trophy in both men & women categories of All India Inter-University Qwan-Ki-Do Championship 2019 which concluded today at the campus of Chandigarh University Gharuan. Players of MDU Rohtak won 8 Gold Medals & 1 Silver to claim overall championship in the women’s category while host team of Chandigarh University Gharuan finished as 1st runner-up with 1 Gold 2 Silver & 5 Bronze. Team GNDU Amritsar finished closed third by winning 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze medals in various weight categories of women’s championship.  



In the men’s championship, team MDU Rohtak won 6 Gold Medals, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals to clinch the overall championship while team GNDU Amritsar won 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals to win 1st runner-up position. Host Team Chandigarh University bagged 2nd runner-up position by winning 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze Medals. Dr. R.S.Bawa, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University along with Ashok Kumar, Competition Director gave medals and trophies to the winning teams on the final day of the championship.

Stack Team Matches were played on the final day in which five best players each of women and men took part. In the men’s stack quarter-final match, team RMLA Ayodhya beat team GKU Bathinda while team MDU Rohtak beat GNDU Amritsar. In the other matches team Chandigarh University beat VBSPU Uttar Pradesh while KUVEMPU Karnataka beat team Osmania University, Hyderabad. In the first semifinal match team MDU Rohtak over-powered team RMLA Ayodhya while in the second semifinal match team CU Mohali beat team KUVEMPU Karnataka to make their place for the finals. In the final match team MDU Rohtak beat host team of Chandigarh University to win yet another gold medal.

In the women’s stack team the final match was played between CU Mohali and MDU Rohtak and once again the girls of MDU Rohtak over-powered to win the match.
