CU students from Indonesia celebrate 74th Indonesia Independence Day 



Chandigarh University students of Indonesia origin celebrated their 74th Independence Day at the university campus by presenting a Musical & Dance performance. Dressed up in their traditional attire, more than 100 Indonesian students presented a colorful tableau of their rich heritage and culture. It was in the year 1945, Indonesia got independence from the occupation of Dutch and Japan with great struggle and sacrifice. 

On the occasion, the students from Indonesia presented their traditional folk dance Roti-Manis which means sweet bread and is performed by the farmer's community during the reaping season. The main attraction of the program was Pendent Tari Bali Dance which was performed by the female students who were dressed as damsels doing prayers in the temple by presenting flowers to Lord Rama. Indonesian students studying in Hotel Management prepared the traditional cuisines & delicacies which included Aunde-Aunde, Sup Buah, Baksdo, Gaudo-Gaudo, Sambal which was enjoyed by the other students of the university. 

A resident of Bali town of Indonesia and student of Hotel Management, Aris said, "Both the Asian countries enjoy culturally, trade and traditional strong bonding with each other the students from Indonesia consider Indian Higher Education system as world-class as a result lot Indonesian students come to India for their professional education". While another student Dea from North Sumatra said, "I like Punjab very much & we have adapted to the local environment and she likes local cuisine Chola Bhatura along with lassi very much".
