Five-day NCC Training Camp concluded at Chandigarh University

NCC Cadets from various educational institutes of Mohali participate in a 5-day training camp at Chandigarh University.

Around 170 NCC cadets underwent training related to numerous activities of the Indian Army.

Chandigarh University, NCC Wing organized  a five-day NCC training camp  under the direction of NCC Group Headquarter Patiala, NCC Battalion 23 P.B. B. N. The five-day NCC training camp, held from 15 to 19 February, witnessed 170 NCC cadets from various educational institutes of Mohali district, including Chandigarh University. During the training camp, the cadets learned about the methods and strategies used in the Indian Army. Colonel SB Rana, Commanding Officer, Punjab 23 Battalion NCC Rupnagar, and Colonel LK Aggarwal Adam, Punjab 23 Battalion NCC Rupnagar were present as the Chief Guest of the event on the last day of the five-day training camp.



Speaking on the occasion, Colonel SB Rana said, “The main objective of this training camp is to establish unity and discipline among NCC cadets and motivate them to serve the country and build a better nation”. Colonel Rana further said, “NCC is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world, which is making a major contribution to nation-building by ensuring its participation in various welfare schemes”. “NCC is a socially important organization, which is playing a leading role in various activities like environmental protection and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, besides leadership and personality development,” said, Colonel LK Aggarwal.

Giving  information about the training camp, Lieutenant Gurpreet Singh, Associate NCC Officer, NCC Wing, Chandigarh University, said, “ About 170 NCC cadets from various educational institutions in the Mohali district participated in this five-day NCC camp organized at Chandigarh University”. Lt. Gurpreet Singh added, “During the training camp, various competitions related to "Weapon Handling" and the drill was organized and the winners of these competitions Cadet Suraj Sachan and Cadet Girish was awarded NCC A-grade certificate”. During the training camp, the cadets were trained in the use and maintenance of weapons, betel craft and fieldcraft training, drill, map reading, and SBS training, etc. The cadets enthusiastically participated in various activities during the camp and the cadets were also provided additional training regarding the preparation of the NCC B and C examination stated Lieutenant  Singh.

While talking about the camp, Dr. R.S Bawa, Pro-Chancellor, Chandigarh University said, “During training camp, the cadets are provided training in various activities by expert and experienced trainers”.  Dr. Bawa further said, “The NCC, is one of the premier youth organizations in our country contributed to propagating national unity and integrity amongst youth, the disciplined cadets of the university are serving as officers in the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force”. Chandigarh University is not only preparing the next generation of professionals for the industry but also inspiring the youth to choose careers in defense forces and contribute in serving the nation as next-generation officers and till now more than 23 NCC cadets of the university are serving as officers in the Indian Armed Forces stated Dr. Bawa.
