Chandigarh University conferred Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 Harish Mehta, CEO, Reliance BP Mobility Ltd with Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 for his achievements and contribution in the field of Innovative Marketing & finding digital solutions to the problems of the clients in the Oil & Gas sector. In addition the university also honored Deepak Yadav, an ex-Computer Science Engineering student of 2020 batch who is currently working at Amazon, Shivam Puniani, an ex-Mechatronics Engineering student of 2021 batch and Manik Garg a young entrepreneur who has started his own venture in the field of construction with the Budding Engineers Award 2021. The award ceremony was organized virtually as part of Engineers Day celebrations today to commemorate the 160th Birth Anniversary of  M. Visvesvaraya. The theme of Engineers Day celebrations at Chandigarh University 'Contribution of Engineers in combating COVID-19".   

While delivering his keynote address, Harish Mehta, CEO Reliance BP Mobility said, "Focus on developing skills through practical learning is key to becoming a successful engineer. Innovation, Creativity, Long term vision and Leadership skills are some of the important traits that one should develop being an engineering student and such skills will ensure a rewarding professional career". Gone are the days when industry used to look for specialized engineers, not the multinationals who are looking for multitaskers who can be groomed as the future corporate leaders, he added.

Bharat S. Patel, Chairman, Startups Mission & Innovation, ASSOCHAM said, "An innovative idea is one which helps in addressing the problems faced by mankind. An engineer should not be afraid of a crisis like COVID-19 and should convert the crisis situation into an opportunity. In 2020 when the pandemic hit India, many small-scale industries & entrepreneurs immediately rose to occasion and tried to find out the solutions that our country was facing".

Dr. Uday Desai, former Director IIT Hyderabad said, "India is currently investing US$ 58 billion in Research and Development in comparison to the USA which is investing a whopping amount of US$ 612 billion and China US$ 514 billion. We cannot utilize the youth strength of our country until and unless we create ample opportunities through research and innovation. Any nation which needs to put itself in the league of developed economies, has to concentrate in the field of manufacturing of the next generation of products and technologies".
