CU makes a monumental debut in QS World University Rankings by Subject

Ranks #4 overall & #1 in Employer Reputation among all Private Universities in India

One of the fastest-growing private universities in the country, Chandigarh University has been making its mark in the higher education sector at the international level. After making its debut in the QS Asia Rankings and scaling up the rankings in NIRF, Chandigarh University has now made an entry into the latest edition of the world’s most-consulted university ranking, the QS World University Rankings.

As per the latest edition of QS World University Rankings by Subject, Chandigarh University ranks #4 among all private universities in India and among the Top 20 HEIs in India (Public and Private). With distinct rankings in varied categories, Chandigarh University is now also ranked as the top private university in India under the Global Employer Reputation Category, in which it only ranks below 5 IITs among all HEIs.

Overall, Chandigarh University’s Computer Science Program has been ranked 601-650 from a pool of 15,200 individual university programs taken by students at 1543 universities in 88 locations across the world and across 51 academic disciplines.

What are QS World University Rankings by Subject?

The QS World University Rankings by Subject ranks the world’s top universities in individual subject areas that cover 51 subjects. The rankings, in response to the high demand for subject-level comparisons, facilitate you by helping you identify the world’s leading schools in the field of your choice.

The rankings have established a set parameter to evaluate the programs and higher educational institutions. The QS World University Rankings by Subject incorporates four sources to compile each of the narrow subject rankings. The global surveys of academics and employers are the first two of the four QS’s and are employed to evaluate an institution’s international reputation in each subject.

The other two indicators evaluate research impact, based on research citations per paper and h-index in the relevant subject. These are sourced from the world’s most comprehensive research citations database, Elsevier’s Scopus database.

Furthermore, an additional indicator is used in the broad-faculty area. International Research Network (IRN) highlights an institution’s sustained international research collaboration.

The five components used to rank universities in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 are:

•         Academic reputation

•         Employer reputation

•         Research citations per paper

•         H-index

•         International Research Network (by broad-faculty area)
