 225 degrees awarded to the PG batch of Open and Distance Learning in Annual Convocation 2023 at Chandigarh University

 

Chandigarh University Gharuan held a special ceremony for the Annual Convocation 2023 of the PG passing-out batch of Open and Distance Learning in Management, Computer Applications, Arts, and Commerce at its main campus. The chief guest of the occasion was D.P Singh, Chief Advisor- Chandigarh University and Head Skills-AWS India; Dr. (Prof.) R S Bawa, Pro-Chancellor Chandigarh University; and Dr. Manpreet Singh Manna, Vice Chancellor Chandigarh University; were also present on this auspicious occasion. A total of 225 degrees were awarded to the students of distance learning courses, namely MBA, MCA, MCom, and M.A. English during the convocation.

 


D. P. Singh awarded a total of 225 degrees to the students of MBA, MCA, M.A. English, and MCom through online and distance learning. As many as 135 students that received their degrees during the ceremony were females whereas 90 male students were awarded their online and distance learning degrees during the convocation.

 

Among the students who received their degrees during the convocation included 10 Defense personnel (6 from Army, 3 from Airforce, 1 from the Navy), 23 Paramilitary personnel, 112 corporate employees, 1 from the Civil Services sector, 29 homemakers, 15 entrepreneurs, and 28 with family businesses. The list of graduating students also had 8 college principals, 45 senior secondary teachers, and 11 high school teachers.

 

While addressing the students during the convocation, Chief Advisor- ChandigarhUniversity & Head Skills-AWS India D. P. Singh said, “The concept of education has changed over the years, especially during the pandemic, and the alternative method of education through online and distance mode gained popularity. The shift from regular mode to online and distance education has ensured both convenience and flexibility for students irrespective of their age or profession.”
