Viksit Bharat at 2047

The event held in the sprawling premises of Punjab Raj Bhavan, Chandigarh with more than 40 Vice Chancellors along with Directors, Principals and Head of Institutions in presence.

The programme had been divided into 3 Phases:

Phase 1: Launch of Viksit Bharat @2047 Ideas & Address by Hon’ble Prime Minister

Phase 2: Two Panel Discussion on Empowered Indian and Good Governance & Security

Phase 3: Address by Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT Chandigarh

Attendees from Chandigarh University: Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Manpreet Singh Manna, attended the event with his team including Prof. (Dr.) O.P. Midha, Director UILS, Prof. (Dr.) Nilesh Arora, Director USB, Prof. (Dr.) Aashita Chadha, Director UILAH, Prof. (Dr.) Manisha Malhotra, Additional Director Computing, Prof. (Dr.) Gyanender Singh Goindi, Head of Department.



Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi Ji virtually launched the Viksit Bahart @2047. In his speech, he emphasized that India is currently in the golden era (Amritkaal) and has the opportunity to make a significant leap in development, aiming to become a developed nation by 2047. He called upon governors, educators, and institutions to guide and channelize the energy and ideas of the youth towards the goal of building a developed India, making it the central focus of all activities. He highlighted the need to align towards the common objective of making Bharat a developed nation.

He emphasised the importance of instilling a sense of duty, resource conservation, and commitment to quality output besides acquiring skills among the youth. Educators were urged to embody these values as role models. He likened the current era to exam preparation, emphasizing the need for relentless collective efforts, spearheaded by the youth who will reap the benefits in 2047. Public participation and the inclusion of youth voices in policymaking were highlighted as essential elements for realizing this vision. The roadmap, should emerge through a collective national endeavour.

In second phase, 2 panels discussions were setup in which Sh. K.B.S. Sidhu IAS, former special Chief Secretary Punjab moderated the sessions. Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Prof. Jai Gauri Shankar, Director IISER, Mohali, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, Professor Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, Prof. P Nagarajan, Director IIM Amritsar, Dr Rajiv Sood, Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Dr Dinesh Kumar Singh, Executive Director, AIIMS Bathinda, Shri Baldev Setia, Director PEC, Chandigarh and Dr. Vivek Lal, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh has been participated in the panel discussions and presented their views. One of panel member cited Japan’s development curve saying both Japan and India started their respective journeys of transformation at the same time but Japan developed much faster and India requires to initiate process to ensure inclusive growth of all strata of society. We have to design a road map that India will be a developed country by 2047. Another member quoted that commitment to our goals should be our priority to achieve it.

Dr Renu Vig talked about the holistic development of the student and providing opportunities in entrepreneurship, technological innovation and creating jobs in emerging arears. Investment in educational infrastructure, digital literacy and improvement in healthcare services for rural India, gender equality and inclusive education for students, skills development for employment generation were some other points discussed by the panellists for empowered India. 





Shri Banwari Lal Purohit, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT, Chandigarh specially address the youth of the state and called upon the youth to share their vision of Viksit Bharat so that the common dream of Viksit Bharat@ 2047 could be realized. He talked about time management and insisted that character building of the youth by instilling moral values and discipline was crucial. For this he said good educators was a must who can motivate the youth to  achieve great results.

For the awareness of this programme, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Prof (Dr.) Manpreet Singh Manna has taken immediate action. He held a session with all Directors, Principals, Head of Department of Chandigarh University in which he disseminates all the information and motive behind the Viksit Bharat. He also ensured that the same information will be shared among the students by the Head of departments and mentors. Moreover, a session is arranged on  “Amrit Kaal -Vimarsh, Viksit Bharat@2047” 21st December 2023 specially for NCC Cadets and other students by Lt. Col Umang Kohli, Veteran - Executive Editor, India Strategic. As PM Modi Ji said in his speech that innovative ideas for this programme has to submit on the portal and it is initiated from ourself as it started from “I”. By taking inspiration from these words, we are organising an event in which students will present their innovative ideas. The best ideas will be uploaded on the portal.
