Chandigarh University boxer Nikhil punches his way to international success

 

A Chandigarh University student Nikhil has distinguished himself as a rising boxing star in India with a stellar track record that includes a gold medal in the ASBC Asian Junior Boys Boxing Championship 2023 at Astana, Kazakhstan.



A resident of Patiala, the 19-year-old Nikhil has honed his talent at Chandigarh University, emerging as a sporting powerhouse by nurturing champions and setting new standards of excellence in the field.

Nikhil – whose father works in the private sector and his mother is a housewife –has consistently dominated the national arena, securing 5 gold medals in various national championships, which speaks volumes about his versatility and determination. 

A National Junior Champion in the 52 (two-time) and 57 (three-time) weight categories, Nikhil earlier bagged a bronze medal at the 40th Golden Glove of Vojvodina Youth Boxing Tournament Serbia (2022), another remarkable achievement underscoring his exceptional skill.

Nikhil, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) at Chandigarh University, has been boxing for eight years. He is currently training in Pune for ASBC Asian U22 and Youth Boxing Championships scheduled in Kazakhstan's capital Astana from 25 April.
