With ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat’ as theme, Chandigarh University celebrates National Science Day 2024
Chandigarh University (CU) organized the National Science Day
celebrations on February 28, 2024, on the ‘Indigenous Technologies for Viksit
Bharat’ theme to emphasise the relevance of indigenous innovations by Indian
scientists and the role of science in making India 'Atmanirbhar' and achieving Prime
Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Developed India by 2047.
Dr Jatinder Kaur Arora, Executive Director, Punjab State
Council for Science and Technology was the chief guest of the event, whereas Dr
Ashish Gulia, Director, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre,
Mullanpur; and Dr. Sukminder Kaur, Director, Central Forensic Science Laboratory
Chandigarh were the Guest of Honour.
A Symposium on ‘Role of Science and Innovation towards Viksit
Bharat’ was also held on the occasion, which was attended by Dr. Suman Singh
(Director Health-Family Welfare AND Mission Director - National Health Mission)
Union Territory, Chandigarh; Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Mandal - IISER Mohali; Prof. (Dr.) Jitendra Kumar - IIT Ropar; Dr.
Ashok Sharma Director, Balaji Pharmachem; Prof. (Dr.) Naveen Gupta, Chairman
Department of Microbiology, Panjab University; Dr. S K Rana - CEO BioAge,
Mohali; Dr. Kalpana Sharma Director Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports,
Patiala; and Prof. (Dr.) Rama Krishna, Dean (A & F) NITTIR, Chandigarh.
Additionally, a project exhibition ‘Science @Viksit Bharat’
was also organized, wherein CU students exhibited over 250 innovative projects
and activities on diverse topics, including robotic car, Nano glow, soil
testing, power generation from plants, agriculture, food products etc.
