Chandigarh University (CU) under its Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR) initiative, organized a 12-day special summer camp ‘Udaan - Summer Camp for Holistic Development of Children’ for underprivileged children. More than 50 children from orphanages and economically weaker sections residing in slum areas participated in the camp which was held from June 2 to June 13 at the university's Gharuan campus.

The camp was organized by Chandigarh University in association with NGO Maharishi Dayanand Bal Ashram to provide children with a platform for learning, self-discovery and personal growth during their summer vacations through a variety of engaging and experiential learning activities. The initiative was focused on nurturing hidden talents, enhancing self-confidence, improving communication skills and promoting the overall mental and physical well-being of the participants. A major highlight of the camp was the visit of renowned Bollywood actor and Kapil Sharma Show fame comedian Kiku Sharda, who spent quality time interacting with the children. His visit brought excitement and joy to the children, making the experience even more memorable for them.

A special valedictory ceremony was also organised, during which the children were taken on a campus tour and presented with participation certificates.

Speaking on the occasion, Gagan Deep Singh Baath, Executive Director (Administration and DSW) said, “At Chandigarh University, we believe education extends beyond classrooms. Through the Udaan summer camp, we have made an attempt to create opportunities for children from underprivileged sections of society to learn, explore their potential and dream big in life and work hard to achieve those dreams. Today, when we see the confidence and enthusiasm on the faces of these children, we feel that the Chandigarh University's social initiative has truly achieved its purpose. Through initiatives such as ‘Udaan’, Chandigarh University continues to strengthen its commitment to social responsibility by creating meaningful learning experiences and opportunities for children from disadvantaged sections of society,”.
