Chennai: Chandigarh University (CU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the learning and practical experiences of its students. As part of the first phase of the "Collaborative Design Studio on Designing Multi-Modal Transit Hub," students from the 7th semester of the University's Institute of Architecture (UIA) participated in an immersive and educational visit to Chennai.
From 6th July to 10th July 2024, the students visited various metro stations and studied the extensive metro networks in Chennai. This hands-on experience aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the city's transit infrastructure, operational challenges, and the integration of different modes of transportation. The insights gained from these site visits will serve as a foundational basis for their upcoming design projects.
The visit was meticulously planned to cover key aspects of Chennai’s transit system, enabling students to observe and analyze various operational elements first-hand. The collaborative design studio aims to foster a dynamic learning environment where students can develop innovative ideas to tackle urban transit challenges.
The design projects, which will continue in collaboration with RVS Chennai, are expected to yield creative and practical solutions for multi-modal transit hubs. This initiative underscores CU's proactive approach in ensuring that its students are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their professional careers. The ongoing collaboration between Chandigarh University and RVS Chennai highlights the university's dedication to integrating practical experiences into its curriculum, thereby enhancing the overall educational journey of its students.
