degrees to 860 students at Chandigarh University’s Annual Convocation-2022

Noble laureate Sir Michael Mayor visited the campus of
Chandigarh University for Annual Convocation Ceremony held for the Sciences and
Computer Application students of 2021 batch where he gave lesson to never give
up the unique learning tool of being inquisitive or being curious for resolving
various mysteries and provide its possible solutions.
Noble Laureate advised that the world is changing rapidly. So,
we need to pace up to understand the technology advancements in every field of
science..
Also on the occasion, Pro-Chancellor
of Chandigarh University, Dr. R.S Bawa congratulated the passing-out students
and wished them luck for their future endeavours.
“Evolution of mankind in this universe has been possible only
because we have the ability to ask questions. As a student you should never
give-up the unique learning tool of being inquisitive or being curious. Like
Universe, our life is full of un-resolved mysteries and hence the right way of
learning is try and find the solutions of such problems or mysteries "said
Noble Laureate Sir Michael Mayor. Sir Michael Mayor was speaking during the
Annual Convocation ceremony of Chandigarh University held for the Sciences and
Computer Application students of 2021 batch at the university campus, Gharuan.
A total of 890 students of the 2021 batch of Sciences and
Computer Application programs were awarded degrees. Pro-Chancellor Dr R S Bawa,
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Anand Agrawal and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. Devinder Singh
along with other university officials were present on the occasion. Sir Michael
Mayor was also awarded with the Honorary Doctorate Degree here at the campus of
Chandigarh University for his contribution in the field of Astro-physics and
also working for the promotion of Sciences amongst the youth. More than 16
University toppers of Biotechnology, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Medical Lab
Technology, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Optometry and Computer Applications
department were awarded gold medals on the occasion.
While addressing the
students and parents, Noble Laureate Michael Mayor said, "The world is
changing fast and therefore you have to keep pace with the changing
surroundings and happenings of the world. We have to understand that Technology
has helped us reach at the current position where we are today. No matter how
advanced we are here today but it is because of the ancient technologies
developed by the scientists in the early ages of mankind that we have been able
to make advancements in every field of sciences".
He further added
that, “In my field of Astro-physics, it is because of technology that we know
some of the wonders in our universe. In my view we have been able to know 5
percent about the universe while 95 percent is still a mystery which also means
that there is lot potential for the young and budding students like you to
explore in the sky.
During the convocation
ceremony, Sir Mayor conferred degrees upon 890 students of the 2021 batch
including 663 students of University Institute of Sciences and 227 bachelors'
students of University Institute of Computing.
Speaking on the occasion,
Pro-Chancellor of Chandigarh University, Dr. R.S Bawa congratulated the
passing-out students and wished them luck for their future endeavours.
“As you begin to start your professional journey, it is expected
from you that you all will use your knowledge to fuel your passion and create
great things, eventually making this world a better place to live in".
