77 Patents and Counting: Young Innovator Navjot Singh Sets New Benchmarks in Research

Chandigarh – Navjot Singh, a Computer Science Engineering student at Chandigarh University, has set a new record by filing 77 patents, marking a significant achievement in the field of research and innovation. Singh, the son of an Indian Army officer, has been recognized for his contributions across various areas, including network security, IoT, and artificial intelligence.

Among his notable patents are innovations such as 'Revolutionizing Network Security with Sustainability,' 'Smart Baby Toy Revolutionizes Parenting,' and 'Intelligent IoT-Enabled Library Bookshelves.' Singh's work also includes a 'Portable Device Integrating Nano-Sensors and IoT for Early Detection of Plant Pathogens' and a 'Real-Time AI-Powered System for Network Anomaly Detection.' These inventions highlight his focus on applying advanced technology to address practical challenges.


Over the past five years, Chandigarh University has positioned itself as a hub for research and innovation, providing students with opportunities for funding and mentorship. This environment has supported students like Singh in pursuing research as a career, allowing them to make significant strides in their respective fields.


In recognition of his achievements, Singh has been awarded the Baroda Achiever Award 2024 and Chandigarh University’s Best Researcher of the Year award. He has also participated in various national and international events, including the Smart India Hackathon and the e-Suraksha Hackathon 2024, where he secured notable rankings.


Singh’s academic journey at Chandigarh University has been shaped by access to state-of-the-art facilities and robust support from the institution. The university, which has established 30 industry-sponsored research laboratories and 32 centers of excellence, also maintains an international research network with over 250 universities in more than 60 countries.


Chandigarh University’s Chancellor, Satnam Singh Sandhu, commented on Singh’s accomplishments, stating that his success is a testament to his hard work and the university’s commitment to fostering innovation. The university has allocated a research budget of ₹15 crore this year to further enhance its research capabilities.


Singh has also expressed his gratitude towards Chandigarh University, noting the institution’s role in providing guidance and support throughout his research endeavors. He aspires to contribute to India’s position in the Global Innovation Index, aiming to see the nation rank among the top innovators worldwide.
