Changhua City, Taiwan : Riya Singh, a B.E. CSE Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning the student from Chandigarh University recently completed an internship at National Changhua University of Education, Taiwan, under the mentorship of Professor Wen-Ren Yang from the Department of Electrical Engineering . The internship, which took place from June to September 2024, provided an opportunity to work on advanced AI projects. The student contributed to two notable research initiatives. The first project involved the development of a two-factor authentication system that combined facial and voice recognition technologies, aimed at enhancing security in biometric systems. The second project focused on sign language recognition using a transformer model with patch merging techniques, exploring methods to improve accuracy in non-verbal communication systems. CU Campus - Chandigarh University students Garv Sharma and Pramod Gautam, from the Computer Science Engineering department, have developed XpressBites, a food delivery application designed to streamline the ordering process for students on campus. The app allows users to order food from various campus eateries and have it delivered directly to them, eliminating the need to wait in queues or rush between classes for meals. XpressBites is a product of extensive collaboration and effort, involving brainstorming, coding, and testing. The initiative reflects Chandigarh University's emphasis on fostering innovation, encouraging students to apply their academic knowledge to create practical solutions for everyday problems. The two-day event focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), bringing together students and experts to explore cutting-edge technology solutions. The internship is scheduled to take place from August 5th to November 5th, 2024. Sathvik, who specializes in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), was chosen for this opportunity due to his dedication and successful completion of the TPP training program. A team of engineering students from Chandigarh University, known as INFAMOUS, achieved an impressive second place in the Token Trim competition at Cognizance 2024, hosted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee. The team, comprising Akshat Srivastava, Anubhav Pandey, Vaibhav Lucktoo, and Avishek Golder, received cash prizes for their accomplishment. The competition was part of Code Jam, a segment of the annual technical fest Cognizance. It involved various challenges that tested the participants' coding skills, problem-solving abilities, and innovative thinking. Team INFAMOUS faced numerous rounds, each presenting unique challenges. Despite not clearing all rounds, their persistence and collaborative spirit played a crucial role in their success.
