Ahmedabad – Two students and a faculty member from Chandigarh University participated in the Grand Celebration of National Space Day 2024, held at the Space Applications Centre (SAC) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Ahmedabad. The event, commemorating India’s achievements in space science and technology, provided attendees with an in-depth look into the nation's advancements in space exploration.
Representing Chandigarh University, Prof. Rahul Gupta, along with students Raahil Sheikh and Tejaswini Yadav, attended the day-long event, which featured guest lectures, exhibitions, and lab tours. Notable speakers included Mr. Neelesh Desai, Director of SAC, Dr. Kartikeya Sarabhai, and Dr. Neerja Gupta, the first woman chancellor of Gujarat University, who shared insights on India’s space program and its future trajectory.The celebration included an exhibition organized by ISRO’s industry partners, showcasing advancements in satellite technology, rocket propulsion systems, and other aerospace innovations. The students and faculty also toured key laboratories, including the Sensor Development Area (SEDA) and the GIS/RS Visualization Lab, where they observed the latest developments in sensor calibration and 2.5D imaging techniques.One of the highlights of the event was the Vikram Sarabhai Space Exhibition, which featured scaled models of ISRO’s rockets, displays of rocket engines, and a detailed model of the Gaganyaan Crew Module, representing India's first human spaceflight mission. The event provided valuable insights into India’s space initiatives and offered students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of space science, exploration, and the technologies shaping the future of the aerospace industry.
