Suhani and Pooja bags Best Women Athlete tag during 8th Annual Athletic Meet of Chandigarh University  

Avinash & Writick lifts Best Men Athlete Award 2020

Suhani Rajput a B.P.Ed 1st-year student along with Pooja a BA 2nd Year student lifted the Best Women title during the 8th Annual Athletic Meet 2020 which concluded today at Chandigarh University Gharuan. In the men’s category, Avinash Shekhawat a Chemical Engineering student along with Wrtick Chaudhary, Mechanical Engineering student won the Best Men Athlete 2020 title. The 2-day Annual Athletic Meet 2020, ended to a colourful closing ceremony at University Campus sports complex with the winners awarded with medals and trophies on the final day. Suhani Rajput won 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver & 1 Bronze while Pooja won 3 Gold and 1 Silver Medal to lift the Best Athlete Award. In the men’s category, Avinash Shekhawat won 5 Gold Medals & 1 Silver while Writick Chaudhary won 4 Gold and 2 Silver Medals to bag Best Athlete Award in the track events. 



Writick won 4 Gold Medals in 110-meter hurdle race, Long Jump, Triple Jump and 4x400 meters relay race respectively, while Pooja bagged 3 Gold Medals in 1500 meters, 800 meters and 400 meters category. Having won the maximum number of medals during the 8th Annual Athletic Meet, Department of Mechanical Engineering was adjudged the best department. 

Team Mechanical Engineering won both 4x400 m (Boys) relay race category while 4x100 m (Boys) was won by team of B.Ed. Department. Narinder a BA student won Gold in Discus Throw (Boys) by throwing the discus at 33.85 meters while Manpreet BA student won Gold in the Girls category of the Discus Throw event by throwing the discus a distance of 22.25 meters. In a tight finish, Narinder claimed Gold medal in Shotput (Boys) by throwing the ball to a distance of 10.44 meters while Naven Kumari of M.Sc Chemistry claimed Gold in Girls event by throwing a distance of 8.65 meters.

Writick Chaudhary won Long Jump event in the Boys category event by covering a distance of 5.67 meters while Khusboo a BA 1st-year student won in the Girls category by covering the distance of 3.89 meters. Javelin Throw witnessed the most exciting competition in which Parvez Ali, B.Ed. won Gold in the boys category by covering a distance of 53.70 meters while Tanishka a BBA student won gold in Girls event by covering a distance of 13.90 meters.
