Chandigarh University Mechanical Engineering student Sachin cracks GATE exam

Chandigarh University has been stamped with another proof of academic excellence as a student of Mechanical Engineering, Sachin Sharma has qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering conducted by the Indian Institute of Engineering, Bombay for the year 2021. Sachin has not just qualified for the GATE exam but secured an AIR 76 in the said stream for which over 2 lakh candidates appear every year. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination in India is considered as one of the most important national examinations for Engineering undergraduates. Sachin scored 84.16 marks out of 100. Sachin opted for one out of 27 papers and cleared the exam with scores of 885 in Mechanical Paper. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology for the students who wish to pursue higher studies in prestigious IIT’s in India. The score remains valid for a period of 3 years from the date of declaration of result. Besides, the Gate score is also used by the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for the recruitments.
Sachin a resident of Haldwani, Uttarakhand, has completed his school education from Haldwani itself. He has completed his 10+2 from Maharishi Vidya Mandir School with 67% marks. Sachin whose father is a businessman in Uttarakhand and his mother is a homemaker said that he wants to join the Public Sector and Undertaking sector to support his family financially. “It is a wrong stereotype that an average student cannot secure a good secure, the key to pass with flying colors at the Gate exam is to have focus and speed”, said Sachin Sharma. He further said, “ He never went to any coaching classes or took tuition to prepare for GATE 2021, he used to revise his notes every day and also used to refer the books belonging to the previous year. While sharing his strategy for the exam Sachin said that he took help from his teachers, friends, and especially from the Internet, and also, he utilized one hour for GATE preparation every day in the beginning, this was changed to 6 to 8 hours as the exam approached. While sharing his success mantra and giving advice to other students who wish to appear for the exam next time, Sachin said the aspirants should put emphasis on strengthening their basics instead of learning tricks and shortcuts.
While congratulating Sachin on his achievement, Chancellor, Chandigarh University, Satnam Singh Sandhu said, there is no substitute to hard work and perseverance and hard work is the key to success”. He further said, “The students of the university are doing excellent in various fields, the academic model, and industrial alliances adopted by the university are proving to help the students to gain better knowledge about the current needs and prospects”.
